About the Preserve
Banita Creek Preserve is a lovely 17-acre urban preserve in Nacogdoches, TX. The almost 2 mile Banita Creek trail runs through the property and meanders along Banita Creek. The preserve is located at North and Rusk streets; parking is available at 499 Rusk St, Nacogdoches, TX 75965.
The well-known historic home of author Charlotte Baker Montgomery, who donated this nature preserve, can be seen at 1703 North Street. Charlotte and her mother, Karle Wilson Baker, made important contributions to Texas literature and nature studies. Please note, the house and yard are not open to the public.
